Approximately two billion people worldwide don’t have reliable access to safe drinking water, often because of pollution or simple lack of proximity. At Martin Water, we want to do our part to address this problem. That’s why we’re proud to support Water Mission, a nonprofit dedicated to developing locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education programs around the globe. In addition to donating a portion of our profits to the organization, Martin Water also sponsors its annual Walk for Water fundraiser.
What Do Participants Do?
Created in 2007, the Walk for Water event simulates the trek that many women and children have to make daily to collect water, even when that water can be unsafe and make their families sick. Participants walk approximately three miles. In the first half, they carry empty buckets. Halfway through, they fill them with dirty water and carry them to the end.
The Mission Behind the Walk for Water Event
Walk for Water’s mission is to raise awareness of the challenges faced by people around the world who must walk long distances to get water for drinking, washing their clothes, brushing their teeth, and other everyday uses. Participants and sponsors raise funds that go toward designing and building wells, filtration systems, solar-powered pumping stations, and treatment facilities to provide communities with reliable access to clean water. They also go toward training community members to operate and maintain these systems.
The Central PA Event & Martin Water
Martin Water’s mission is also to help people have safe, clean water. Every year, we’re honored to sponsor the Central Pennsylvania Walk for Water, set to take place this year on September 12, 2026, at Oakside Community Park in Biglerville, PA.
